1. The Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has been striving with might and main to build a new peaceful, modernized and democratic nation in accordance with the desire of the entire people.

2. In line with the State Constitution, all citizens of Myanmar have the right to religious freedom of choice in Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Animism. Throughout history, there has been peaceful co-existence and harmony among different religious groups.

President U Thein Sein's official visits to the United Kingdom and the Republic of France PDF Print E-mail

At the invitations of British Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Francois Hollande, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Thein Sein paid official visits to the United Kingdom and the French Republic from 14 to 19 July 2013. On arrival at the British Prime Minister's Office, President U Thein Sein was warmly welcomed by the British Prime Minister, on 15 July 2013.

The Republic of the Union of Myanmar hosted the World Economic Forum on East Asia 2013 at the Myanmar Convention Centre, Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar on 5-7 June 2013. Participants of the forum –both local and foreign- had the opportunity to discuss tourism sector and economy under the titles of Global Agenda Council Series, Travel and Tourism Growth and Jobs, Accelerating ASEAN's Integration, Exclusive Dialogue with Myanmar Business and Laying the Basics for Travel and Tourism Guiding Principles.
